Eight issues holding the site back
The site has real assets — verified case results, 5-star reviews, a flat-fee trademark package — but the architecture and content are template-grade. These are the blockers, ranked by impact.
Overlapping IP slugs
The Copyright page lives at /copyright-trade-secrets/ alongside a separate /trade-secrets/ page. Resolution (URLs stay): differentiate the content — make /copyright-trade-secrets/ unambiguously the copyright page (title, H1, body 100% copyright) so the two pages stop competing.
Four overlapping contract pages
“Contract Disputes,” “Breach of Contract,” “Business Contract,” and “Business Disputes” currently blur together. Resolution (URLs stay): assign each one a distinct primary intent (see Keyword Map) so each page owns a different query cluster instead of splitting one.
One page for the flagship practice
The entire trademark practice — search, registration, office actions, TTAB, infringement, renewals — is a single page. Every high-fee keyword is unaddressed.
Money page buried under Contact
The Trademark Filing Package sits at /contact/trademark-filing-package/ with no topical authority path and no search visibility.
Vendor-template content
Boilerplate “fierce / effective / experienced” copy and stock imagery shared with thousands of firm sites. Thin, non-unique content won't outrank dedicated pages.
Protocol mismatch
Open Graph tags point to http:// while canonicals use https:// — a small but sloppy mixed signal.
No supporting layers
No FAQ, pricing, resource, glossary, or location pages, and minimal schema — losing featured snippets, People-Also-Ask, AI-overview citations, and map-pack relevance.
“Nationwide” with zero national pages
Federal trademark work isn't geo-bound, yet the site only targets Orlando. The national trademark layer is the biggest untapped opportunity.
Five whales — and what to steal from each
Nine firms now inform this plan: national trademark dominators, Central Florida incumbents, and three content-model firms whose traffic data we've analyzed page by page.
- ~50 individual “cause of action” pages under one business-litigation silo — breach of fiduciary duty, fraud in the inducement, civil theft, conversion, unjust enrichment, open account, promissory note, FDUTPA, and dozens more
- Each page answers “what is X in Florida — elements, defenses, remedies,” capturing commercial AND informational intent (and the AI-citation format)
- Positions on unpaid invoices, judgment collection, and small-business debt recovery — exactly Keough's nonpayment focus
- Layers an industries dimension (construction, franchising, hospitality, technology) on top, plus FL city pages including Orlando
- 227 pages, ~8,355 visits/mo — and the /information/ definitional library drives nearly all of it (D7)
- One TM-vs-® explainer out-earns their entire practice section: 2,766 visits/mo, 526 keywords, 112 AI citations
- Florida-specific business explainers (LLC vs S-corp, registered agent, certificate of good standing) compound into local authority
- The local content bar to clear — but no litigation cause-of-action depth and thin IP, which is the opening
- 737 pages; a near-identical practice taxonomy to this plan (fiduciary duty, debt collection, demand letters, right of publicity, trademark infringement defense) — validation at scale
- Programmatic state-law series: “Can I record a conversation in [state]” pulls 100–850 visits/mo per state (D8)
- Productizes services as pages: “Demand Letter,” “DMCA Flat Rates” — confirms the flat-fee product-page play
- Question-format litigation explainers (litigation holds, damages types, NDA breach) rank with minimal links
- 551 pages earning 13,156 AI answer-engine citations — the most AI-visible firm in the dataset by an order of magnitude (D9)
- Owns one urgent niche (online defamation) with elements / defenses / per-se / cost pages — the exact format this plan's cause-of-action pages use
- Review-defamation cluster (Yelp removal: 116 kw; per-industry response guides) reveals an open business niche in Orlando: fake-review removal
- The lesson for a solo firm: be the answer for one painful problem — for Keough, “the attorney businesses call when they haven't been paid”
- Dedicated service page for every trademark task (search, filing, enforcement, monitoring) — manages 11,000+ marks
- Published flat-fee pricing on-site ($2,000 + USPTO fees) — radical transparency that converts
- Newsjacking blog on celebrity & brand trademark disputes that earns press links and media quotes
- Named-attorney bylines and founder E-E-A-T on every post
- Audience-niche landing pages: Amazon sellers and e-commerce brands
- Publishes data-backed credibility content (“ranked #17 of 400,000 attorneys by USPTO filing success”)
- Granular trademark coverage: TTAB oppositions/cancellations, UDRP domain disputes, portfolio management, C&D work
- Badge equity: Chambers USA, Best Law Firms — award-driven E-E-A-T
- Steady news/announcement publishing cadence
- Multi-city footprint: Orlando, Lake Nona, Tavares, DeLand, Port Orange
- Dispute pages framed for both plaintiff and defense — captures both search intents
- Service × city location-page matrix (/areas-we-serve/orlando-fl/trademark-lawyer/) — the exact local architecture to replicate at smaller scale
- 40-year longevity trust signals and 24/7 contact framing
The wedge → litigation-first, validated by the data
Lead with (a) a dedicated business-litigation silo — breach of contract, nonpayment/collections, and fraud — the page type the Bogin data proves wins big in Central Florida; (b) the deepest trademark + copyright silo in Orlando, including the defense-side content (sued, C&D'd, account suspended) that matches Keough's verified results and dominates AI answer engines; and (c) everything else the firm already does, kept intact at the existing URLs.
What the competitor data says
Ten findings — nine from six competitor organic-pages exports (boginmunns.com 1,101 pages, shuffieldlowman.com 203, e-cabilly.com 137, brewerlong.com 227, romanolaw.com 737, minclaw.com 551) and one from a 14,414-keyword “business lawyer” US demand export — each mapped to an action in this plan.
| # | Finding | Evidence | Action in this plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Litigation pages are the traffic winners.Bogin's litigation cluster (47 URLs) earns ~2,784 visits/mo across ~1,337 keywords. | Melbourne civil-litigation page: 1,353 visits/mo, 101 kw · Orlando civil-litigation: 260 kw · fraud page: 108 kw (“orlando fraud lawyer”) · contract-dispute page ranks for “orlando contract lawyer” | New /practice-areas/business-litigation/ subcategory with civil litigation, fraud, and nonpayment children |
| D2 | One litigation explainer can out-earn an entire practice section. | Bogin's “small claims litigation” blog post: 1,170 visits/mo, 142 keywords | “Suing in Florida small claims vs. hiring a litigator” + breach/nonpayment guides in the resource plan |
| D3 | Standalone FAQ URLs rank on their own. | Bogin FAQs ranking: “litigation vs mediation vs arbitration” (66 kw), “do I need a litigation attorney” (39 kw), “real estate litigation attorney vs lawyer” (133 visits/mo) | FAQ hub with individual indexable Q&A URLs in the litigation silo |
| D4 | Platform-suspension defense content is an AI-search goldmine. | Cabilly's Instagram suspension appeal guide = 48% of their entire site traffic (200 visits/mo, 336 kw); suspension-related pages earn 200+ AI answer-engine citations (Gemini, Google AI, SearchGPT) | “Account suspended for copyright/IP complaints” guide series under the copyright resource lane — pairs with Keough's IP-defense positioning |
| D5 | Florida's new non-compete law is an open content gap. | ShuffieldLowman's CHOICE Act blog post ranks for 30 keywords with minimal effort | Non-compete agreements page + CHOICE Act guide under business-law |
| D6 | Direct-answer formatting earns AI citations. | The pages with the highest “LLM Prompts” counts all lead with a plain-language answer before the detail | Every resource article opens with a 40–60-word direct answer; FAQ schema sitewide |
| D7 | A definitional IP/business-law library is BrewerLong's entire traffic engine. | “TM vs ® symbol”: 2,766 visits/mo, 526 kw, 112 AI citations · “How long do NDAs last”: 1,335 visits, 126 AI citations · “Four types of IP”: 1,197 visits, 392 kw — informational pages dwarf their practice pages | The resources layer expands to a full definitional library (Tier R1 list in the sitemap); the planned TM-vs-® page is now data-validated |
| D8 | State-law evidence & question-format pages scale programmatically. | Romano's “Can I record a conversation in [state]” series pulls 100–850 visits/mo per state (FL version: 258); litigation holds (73 kw), damages types, demand letter vs C&D, and NDA-breach guides all rank | Florida recording-law/evidence page + litigation-hold, damages, and demand-letter-vs-C&D resources — all feed the litigation funnel |
| D9 | Elements/defenses/cost pages are AI-citation machines — and fake-review defamation is an open business niche. | Minc earns 13,156 AI citations site-wide; “elements of defamation,” “defamation per se,” “defenses,” and cost/damages pages are cited constantly; their Yelp-review-removal page ranks for 116 kw with per-industry variants | Confirms the cause-of-action page format; adds a fake-review-removal practice page under business defamation + “when is a review defamation” resource |
| D10 | Transactional “business lawyer” demand is dominated by deal work the plan hadn't targeted — M&A, succession, and startup counsel. | In the 14,414-keyword “business lawyer” US export: “business acquisition lawyer” 1,000/mo + a buy/sell-a-business cluster ~5,850; “business succession planning lawyer” 720 (cluster ~3,720); startup/incorporation cluster ~4,220; and the generic “small business lawyer” 2,900 + “small business lawyer near me” 2,900 | Adds a deal-side business-law lane (Months 22–23): Business Sales & Acquisitions, Succession & Exit Planning, Startup Counsel, Commercial Lease Disputes, plus what-is/cost resources; points the business-law hub at “small business lawyer/attorney.” Bankruptcy, immigration, tax, and insurance-claim demand is larger still but sits outside the firm's practice scope — intentionally excluded. |
The sitemap plan — two phases
Phase 1 is the website redesign: every one of the 69 current pages survives at its exact URL (zero 404s) with its assigned content action, and all existing redirects keep working. Phase 2 is the SEO build: 92 new pages at 4 per month over 23 months, in strict priority order. Depth rule: no new URL exceeds 3 path segments — clusters are expressed through hub-page internal links and breadcrumbs, not folder nesting.
Phase 1 — Redesign: existing pages & redirects
Ship the redesign with these 30 pages + 39 blog posts intact. Rebuild/Refocus = new content on the same URL.
Preserve all 27 existing 301s (trailing-slash variants + legacy paths like /practice-areas/trademark-law and /practice-areas/copyright-trade-secrets — full list in the workbook's "Redirects to Preserve" tab). Add sitewide http → https and single-host canonical redirects, and fix the soft-404 (/404/ currently returns HTTP 200). No other redirects are needed — no URLs move.
Phase 2 — SEO build: 4 new pages per month
All 92 future pages in publishing order. T = practice page, R = resource; evidence references findings D1–D10.
Keyword map — one primary target per page
Filter by intent. Every page owns exactly one primary query cluster — that's how the existing pages and the new litigation pages coexist without cannibalizing: /business-law/breach-of-contract/ owns the general "attorney" query, while /business-litigation/breach-of-contract-lawsuits/ owns lawsuit-process intent.

The optimization guide
Ten workstreams, in execution order. Expand each for the full checklist.
- Force HTTPS everywhere; fix OG tags from
http://tohttps://; pick one canonical host and 301 the rest. No URL migrations — the existing structure stays. - Regenerate the XML sitemap as new pages publish; submit in Google Search Console + Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Core Web Vitals: Cloudinary
f_auto,q_autotransforms, explicit width/height (CLS), lazy-load below the fold, preload the hero, target LCP < 2.5s on mobile — test per template, not just the homepage. - Crawl hygiene: fix the empty
hrefanchors on the practice hub, remove duplicate nav blocks, add breadcrumbs sitewide. - Monthly indexation check:
site:keough-law.comvs sitemap count; fix thin pages via consolidation, not noindex.
- Sitewide:
LegalServicewith name, logo, address (3505 Lake Lynda Dr Ste 200, Orlando FL 32817), phone, geo, openingHours, priceRange, areaServed, andsameAslinks to all profiles. - Attorney bio:
PersonwithknowsAbout, alumniOf (Northeastern Law), memberOf (Florida + Massachusetts Bars). - Every practice page:
Service+FAQPage(4–8 genuine questions). - Reviews:
AggregateRatingonly where reviews display on-page and policies allow. - Blog:
Articlewith author → Shaun's Person entity, datePublished / dateModified. Breadcrumbs:BreadcrumbListsitewide.
- Title tag (≤60 chars):
{Service} Attorney in Orlando, FL | Keough Law— national pages drop the city. - Meta description (≤155): benefit + proof + “Free 30-minute consultation.”
- One H1 matching the primary keyword naturally; keyword + “Orlando, Florida” in the first 100 words on local pages.
- H2s mirroring subqueries: what it is → why it matters → our process → cost / flat fee → why Keough Law → relevant case result → FAQ.
- Proof injection:every page cites one case result and one testimonial excerpt — the firm's biggest unfair advantage.
- CTAs top / middle / bottom; click-to-call on mobile.
- Internal links: pillar → all children; child → pillar + 2–3 siblings + 1–2 resources, descriptive anchors only.
- Replace stock photos with real imagery over time; descriptive alt text.
- Byline: “Reviewed by Shaun Keough, Esq. · Florida Bar No. ___ · Last updated {date}.”
- Length: 1,500–2,500 words for pillars; 1,000–1,500 for sub-pages.
- Expand the attorney bio: bar admissions with numbers (FL + MA), JD, years, notable matters, speaking, headshot, video intro.
- Claim and link profiles via
sameAs: Florida Bar, Avvo, Justia, FindLaw, Super Lawyers, Martindale, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile. - Byline + attorney-review stamp on every post and practice page; publish an editorial / legal-review policy page.
- Pursue Florida Bar Board Certification in Intellectual Property Law — the single most powerful trust badge available.
- Google Business Profile:primary category “Trademark attorney”; secondary “Business attorney,” “Intellectual property attorney.” Add the full services list, seed Q&A, weekly posts, monthly photos.
- Reviews engine: ask every closed client; target 2–4 new Google reviews/month; respond to all. Reviews that mention “trademark” and “Orlando” lift relevance.
- NAP consistency across GBP, footer, FL Bar, Avvo, Justia, Yelp, BBB, chamber, Apple Maps, Bing Places — run a citation audit.
- Local links: Orlando Bar Association, UCF Business Incubator (the office is next to UCF — sponsor and speak), SCORE Orlando, National Entrepreneur Center, Orlando Business Journal commentary.
- Embed the map + driving-direction content on Contact and location pages.
- Cadence: 2 practice/resource pages per week for the first 90 days, then 1 resource page + 2–4 blog posts per month.
- Lane A — Litigation silo + IP children (the sitemap above), months 1–3, litigation first.
- Lane B — Evergreen resources prioritized by competitor data: small-claims-vs-litigation (D2), litigation FAQ set (D3), account-suspension appeal guides (D4), CHOICE Act non-compete (D5). Every article leads with a 40–60-word direct answer + FAQ schema — that format is what earns AI answer-engine citations (D6).
- Lane C — Newsjacking: FL litigation verdicts and law changes + national trademark stories, published within 48 hours; pitch reporter quotes via HARO/Qwoted.
- The wedge angles:defense-side content ("I got sued / received a C&D / my account was suspended"), nonpayment/collections funnels for business owners, and Florida-specific topics (FUTSA, §542.335 + CHOICE Act, Ch. 713 liens, FDUTPA).
- Authority legal directories: Avvo, Justia, FindLaw, Super Lawyers, Lawyers.com, HG.org, Nolo.
- Bar + association profiles: Florida Bar, Orange County Bar, INTA, AIPLA.
- Digital PR via newsjacking + reporter quotes (Lane C).
- Guest expertise: entrepreneur/Amazon-seller podcasts, UCF entrepreneurship events, chamber webinars.
- Resource-page outreach: pitch the glossary and guides to small-business resource lists and startup blogs.
- Avoid: paid link networks and mass guest posting — legal is a heavily policed vertical.
- Sticky mobile call bar; “Free 30-Min Consultation” button in the header.
- Online scheduling (Calendly / Lawmatics) — urgent IP-defense clients convert at night.
- Fix the consultation form (the page currently exposes an error-state message in the DOM); four fields max.
- Publish flat-fee pricing prominently on
/pricing/and the filing-package page — transparency is the conversion engine. - Case-result and testimonial snippets adjacent to every CTA; live chat or AI intake for after-hours capture.
- GSC: track query clusters per silo; watch for cannibalization (two URLs on one query → consolidate).
- GA4 + CallRail: conversions = calls, form fills, bookings — attributed to landing page.
- Rank tracking: ~50 keywords, split Local (Orlando geo-grid via Local Falcon) vs National.
- Monthly KPIs: indexed pages, top-3 keywords, GBP calls/directions, review count, consult requests, signed clients by source.
- Each location page needs genuinely unique content: local landmarks, directions from that city, area-specific clients/cases, city business stats.
- Never find-and-replace city names — doorway-page patterns get filtered.
90-day roadmap (and beyond)
Four phases. Technical fixes ship before content; content ships before links.
Foundation
HTTPS/OG fixes, GSC + GA4 + CallRail setup, Google Business Profile optimization (add "Civil litigation attorney" as a category), schema deployment, citation audit. No URL changes.
The lead practice
Launch the /business-litigation/ hub + breach-of-contract lawsuits, civil litigation, the collections cluster hub, the fraud cluster hub, partnership/shareholder litigation, and tortious interference. Rebuild Home to lead with litigation. Refocus the four existing contract pages.
The Jimerson model
Collections children (open account, unjust enrichment, promissory note, guaranty, judgment collection), fraud children (inducement, misrepresentation, civil theft), business divorce, fiduciary duty, litigation FAQ. IP: registration, infringement, copyright defense, office actions, C&D, TTAB. Non-compete/CHOICE Act. Ship /pricing/.
Expansion
Emergency injunctions, specific performance, defamation/disparagement + fake-review removal, FDUTPA, negligent misrepresentation, conversion. IP: domain disputes, counterfeit takedowns, false advertising, right of publicity. Operating/shareholder agreements, NDAs, flat-fee demand letters. R1 resource library live (TM-vs-®, NDA duration, four types of IP, recording laws, litigation cost, small claims); directories, reviews engine, first PR.
Authority
Remaining cause-of-action pages (conspiracy, indemnification, warranty, rescission, RICO), DMCA + IP licensing, vendor disputes, the R2/R3 resource library (damages types, injunctive relief, demand-letter-vs-C&D, state guides, glossary), the industries layer (construction first), location pages, blog cadence, quarterly refresh of every pillar.
Phase 2 publishing schedule — 4 pages per month
All 92 new pages over 23 months: revenue-critical litigation and IP pages first, the data-validated traffic library second, long-tail authority and the deal-side business-law lane last. Full per-page detail (URLs, keywords, evidence) lives in the companion workbook.

Positioning to build the site around
“The Orlando litigator businesses call when the deal goes bad — breach, nonpayment, fraud — and the trademark attorney they keep before it does. Proven verdicts, TTAB wins, flat-fee filings, and direct access to the attorney.”
